dr hab. Monika Piątkowska
Professor at the Warsaw Academy of Physical Education
Dr. Monika Piątkowska has graduated from management at the University of Warsaw and tourism and recreation at the Faculty of Physical Education of Jsoef Piłsudski University of Physical Education in Warsaw. She is also a graduate of Postgraduate European Studies of Warsaw School of Economics. She successfully defended her PhD dissertation on “Physical activity of the Polish society in comparison with other European countries measured with the International Physical Activity Questionnaire” in 2009. In 2008 she gained an international award funded by International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education during 16th Biennial Conference of ICSPES in Macau in China (paper: “Prevalence of physical activity in the European Union – comparative analysis”). In the same year she won first place in the competition for Young Investigators’ Award during International Convention on Science, Education and Medicine in Sport (ICSEMIS) “Sport Sciences and Harmonious Society in the 21st Century” in Guangzhou in China. Since then her research interests have been strongly combined with physical activity and its socio-demographic determinants with respect to WHO recommendations.
